Product Overview
Description
Gel Clot LAL/TAL reagent indicates the bacterial endotoxin content based on the firmness of the gel formed by the agglutination reaction.
Applications:
This assay is normally used for the qualitative or semi-quantitative determination of bacterial endotoxin content in:
- Human and animal injection drugs
- Biological products
- Medical equipment
Composition:
This product is a freeze-dried preparation of the blood amoebocyte lysate from the horseshoe crab. It contains:
- Proclotting enzyme
- Coagulogen
Mechanism:
These components can be activated by bacterial endotoxins. Under suitable conditions (appropriate temperature, pH, and absence of interfering substances), bacterial endotoxin activates the procoagulase in the TAL reagent, causing the Limulus reagent to agglutinate and form a gel.

Q: Why did I follow the instructions, but the result shows semi-gel? The 2λ tube does not form a firm gel, and the other tubes also look semi-gel with some flow.
A: Please check the following points:
-
Check the incubation temperature
Use a thermometer to verify the temperature of the water bath or heater. Make sure the temperature is 37 °C. -
Mix well during dilution
Ensure the reagents and standards are fully mixed during the dilution process.
Incorrect temperature or insufficient mixing may cause semi-gel results in the test.
Q: How should I prepare endotoxin standards from a 15 EU/vial CSE for an assay with a sensitivity of 0.06 EU/mL?
A: Reconstitute the Control Standard Endotoxin (CSE) and prepare a series of two-fold serial dilutions using endotoxin-free water.
Example Procedure
-
Add 1 mL endotoxin-free water to the CSE vial to obtain a 15 EU/mL stock solution (Tube 1).
-
Prepare 1 EU/mL by mixing 20 μL of the 15 EU/mL solution with 280 μL water (Tube 2).
-
Perform two-fold serial dilutions as follows:
| Tube | Preparation | Final Concentration |
|---|---|---|
| Tube 2 | 20 μL stock + 280 μL water | 1 EU/mL |
| Tube 3 | 100 μL Tube 2 + 100 μL water | 0.5 EU/mL |
| Tube 4 | 100 μL Tube 3 + 100 μL water | 0.25 EU/mL |
| Tube 5 | 100 μL Tube 4 + 100 μL water | 0.125 EU/mL |
| Tube 6 | 100 μL Tube 5 + 100 μL water | 0.0625 EU/mL |
| Tube 7 | 100 μL Tube 6 + 100 μL water | 0.03125 EU/mL |
These standards can be used to generate the endotoxin standard curve and verify reagent sensitivity for assays with a 0.06 EU/mL detection limit.

Q: Is there any easy way to detect the endotoxin?
A: Yes, you can use our product, the Kinetic Chromogenic Endotoxin Test Kit (LAL/TAL Assay). It is easier and more convenient.
Q: For consumables, can other brands be compatible?
A: Yes, it can be compatible. But we recommend using our compatible reagents and consumables: Control Standard Endotoxin, pyrogen-free water, pyrogen-free tubes, and pyrogen-free vials.
Q: What is the difference between different sensitivities?
A: Sensitivity is one of the most critical parameters in endotoxin testing. Understand more about sensitivity levels.
