Viral Collection
Cold chain breaks happen. Lab capacity gets overwhelmed. Samples sit at 4°C for 48 hours before anyone can process them. Standard viral transport media keeps the virus intact — but it still requires extraction before you can run a PCR, which adds time, cost, and one more step where things can go wrong.
The FireGene Viral Molecular Transport Media removes that step.
Formulated without guanidine-type inactivating chemicals, the media preserves viral nucleic acid integrity for delayed molecular testing. After heat inactivation of the pathogen, the media can be added directly into RT-PCR, PCR, or isothermal amplification reactions — no extraction column, no elution, no separate protocol. The result is a shorter turnaround, lower per-sample cost, and a simpler workflow that scales more easily in high-throughput settings.
Compatible with nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs. Validated for nucleic acid integrity at 48 and 72 hours post-inactivation at 4°C. Shelf life 12 months at 4°C.
Note: Heat inactivation is required before adding to amplification reactions. For In Vitro Diagnostic use in EU regions; Research Use Only in the United States.
