DNA Polymerases and PCR Enzymes
Choosing the wrong polymerase doesn't always give you no band. Sometimes it gives you the wrong band — or a library full of errors you won't find until sequencing.
This collection covers twelve polymerase products across four performance tiers, matched to the applications where each actually belongs.
Standard Taq — routine amplification, genotyping, colony screening MagicTaq DNA Polymerase for general-purpose PCR where speed and cost matter more than fidelity. Produces A-tailed products for direct TA cloning.
Hot-start Taq — multiplex PCR, low-copy templates, primer-dimer-prone reactions HotStart Taq 2× PCR Master Mix keeps the enzyme inactive at room temperature, reducing nonspecific amplification and primer-dimer formation during setup. A-tailed products, drop-in replacement for standard Taq reactions.
MagicFast Pfu — high-fidelity PCR where blunt ends are needed Engineered Pfu with fused DNA-binding domains for improved processivity and speed (~2 kb/min extension). 3'→5' proofreading activity, blunt-ended products. Available as standalone enzyme or 2× master mix (with and without loading dye). Use for cloning inserts, site-directed mutagenesis prep, and any amplification where downstream sequence accuracy is required.
FireAmp FastPfu Fly — fast, high-fidelity PCR on complex or long templates Hot-start, high-processivity Pfu-based polymerase with extension rates up to 6 kb/min. Genomic targets up to 15 kb, plasmid targets up to 20 kb. Blunt-ended products, direct cloning into blunt-end vectors.
Magic High-Fidelity — NGS library amplification and demanding applications B-family polymerase engineered for increased DNA affinity and processivity. Error rate of 1 per 3.6 × 10⁶ nucleotides incorporated — the benchmark for applications where sequence fidelity feeds directly into data quality. Available as standalone enzyme, standard 2× NGS master mix, HF buffer formulation, and GC buffer formulation for difficult templates.
